The short version
Ford says the bezel around the easy-entry switch can become misaligned or unseated during use. The resulting interference can make the button stick, allowing a second-row outboard seat to tip or slide unexpectedly and increasing injury risk, especially in a crash.
As of June 16, 2026, Ford had identified 14 reports of unintended second-row seat movement while driving: eight involving North American vehicles outside the earlier recall and six involving vehicles that had already received the earlier remedy. Ford also identified one NHTSA owner questionnaire and reported no related crashes or injuries.
Possible warning
If the easy-entry button is stuck, the feature may stop working or the seat may not return to its normal position after use.
The remedy
A Ford or Lincoln dealer will replace the second-row easy-entry switch bezel and housing with a revised design that has greater retention force. The work is free.
Owner checklist
Check the VIN now and avoid using an easy-entry seat that will not return to its normal position.
Model year alone does not confirm coverage. Use NHTSA's official lookup for your specific Explorer or Aviator.
Open VIN lookupIf the easy-entry control binds or the seat will not return to its normal position, stop using that feature and contact an authorized dealer for guidance.
If your VIN is included, ask a Ford or Lincoln dealer about campaign 26S52 and the revised switch bezel and housing.
