The short version
Ford says heat-shrink adhesive could intrude into the bolt-clearance area of an engine-compartment wiring ground eyelet during production. That interference can bend the eyelet and reduce its fatigue life under vehicle vibration. A fracture may interrupt electrical grounds for drive power, the headlamps, windshield washers, air conditioning, or the engine cooling fan. Loss of motive power, lighting, or windshield washing can increase crash risk.
The recall covers 148,663 U.S. model-year 2024-2026 Mustangs produced from September 7, 2022, through June 9, 2026. As of August 4, 2026, Ford's review of global field data found eight warranty claims and no NHTSA Vehicle Owner Questionnaires related to the condition. Ford reported no related accidents or injuries.
What an owner may notice
Depending on which terminal fractures, the Check Engine Light may illuminate, an instrument-cluster warning may appear, or an audible chime may sound. One or more affected vehicle functions may also stop working.
The remedy
A Ford or Lincoln dealer will replace the four engine-compartment wiring harness ground terminals with revised standoff eyelet pigtails at no charge.
