Subaru recalls 541,237 SUVs over incorrect axle-weight rating labels
The Part 567 certification label lists an incorrect gross axle weight rating. NHTSA says the error may lead to overloading, which can increase crash risk.

Why Subaru issued the recall
The affected vehicles do not comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 110 because their Part 567 certification labels state an incorrect gross axle weight rating. The rating error may lead to vehicle overloading and increase crash risk.
The filing covers 384,407 Ascents, 49,946 Foresters, 77,504 Forester Hybrids, and 29,380 Crosstrek Hybrids in the United States. Subaru said it had received no U.S. technical reports and was not aware of any crashes or injuries caused by the condition.

The remedy
A corrected certification overlay
Subaru will mail owners a corrected certification-label overlay with installation instructions. Owners may instead have an authorized retailer apply it free of charge.
