Urgent recall: 462K Tellurides should be parked outside

Which vehicles are involved
NHTSA announced the recall on July 9, 2026. It covers 462,869 Kia Tellurides from model years 2020 through 2024. The vehicles had been recalled for the same issue in 2024 and need the new remedy described by Kia and NHTSA.
Why NHTSA issued a park-outside warning
The front power-seat switch can be dislodged, misaligned, or damaged if its slide cover or knob is struck. That can keep the seat motor running, which may cause it to overheat and catch fire while the vehicle is parked or moving.
NHTSA says affected Tellurides should stay outside, away from buildings and other vehicles, until the repair is complete.
What owners should do now
- Enter the VIN or license plate in NHTSA's recall lookup to confirm whether the vehicle is affected.
- Follow the park-outside instructions until an authorized dealer completes the remedy.
- Watch for Kia's owner notice and contact Kia customer service or a Kia dealer with questions.
- Recheck the official recall page for updates if the remedy is not yet available for your vehicle.
What repair is planned
NHTSA says dealers will install an electronic fuse assembly. The fuse is designed to stop continuous seat-motor operation if the switch becomes dislodged, misaligned, or damaged.
